Yesterday OpenAI held its first developer conference, and DevDay came with huge updates - including a new GPT-4 model, customizable ChatGPTs, lowered costs for development, and more.

GPT-4 Turbo

An upgraded version of the GPT-4 model with longer input and output capabilities - you can upload up to 300 pages of a book in a single message.

This latest large language model from OpenAI has knowledge through April 2023. Earlier versions of GPT only learned from data up to September 2021, so it's getting closer to real-time.

All the functionalities of GPT-4 are now packed into a single window. There's no need to select specific plugins or code interpreters - the new model automatically determines what tools to use based on the input task. Fully autonomous agents are slowly coming...

GPT’s - Customized Personal ChatGPT

This section of the announcement was definitely one of the most exciting parts of the event.

GPTs will be customizable ChatGPTs you can create and build using simple text prompts, upload documents for reference, and specify actions to take (e.g., pull calendar info, send emails).

You can share your customized GPT chatbots through the GPT Store, where you'll also find popular creations by others. GPT creators will earn revenue shares from OpenAI.

Assistant API

OpenAI is releasing a new API for building AI assistants into websites and software. In addition to advanced capabilities, the API cost was reduced by 2.5 times.

The new API can reference documents, write code, and call other pieces of code.

Basically, it’s the full package solution if you ever said:

“There should be an AI to do _____”

Now you can build it without a single line of code.

Finally, OpenAI will defend enterprise and API users, paying legal costs related to copyright claims.

👨🏻‍🎨3D Model from Stability AI!

The Stability AI team recently announced some big updates. These new features expand AI image generation into creating 3D objects.

Text-to-3D

Easily the most exciting addition is a private preview of Stable 3D. This extends Stable Diffusion to generate 3D images and models.

Stable 3D’s main goal is to change 3D creation by letting users generate basic 3D models in minutes through text or images. It delivers objects as .obj files, so the models can then be edited further in tools like Blender.

By automating the beginning phase of 3D design, Stable 3D aims to let independent creators make necessary 3D objects for lower cost and time. To try the Stable 3D, you can send a request from the Stability AI contact page.

Fine-Tune AI Images with Stable FineTuning

Stability AI also previewed Stable FineTuning, which lets developers fine-tune AI image generation for different apps. Users can customize pictures with new art styles, avatars, landscapes, and more.

Lastly, they are integrating invisible watermarks and content credentials into its API, aligning with the recent Biden administration executive order on AI.
